The Picnic, 2025
The Picnic explores the vulnerable territory where observation meets connection. This participatory work invites strangers to engage in the radical act of simply being present with one another, guided by a single instruction:
"Sit in silence with this stranger. Allow yourself to see and be seen. Write down what you observe inside them."
The piece investigates how we unconsciously reveal ourselves through appearance and body language, while questioning whether silent observation fosters empathy or merely highlights the discomfort of being truly seen.
Each interaction balances invitation with vulnerability, creating a space where connection and discomfort necessarily coexist.
All napkins will be archived in a book at the end of the exhibition.
