Trap, 2023
Trap confronts the violent reality of womanhood in a patriarchal society. This human-sized mousetrap branded with "Womanhood" exposes how women are simultaneously idealized and endangered.
Black lace, bows, and red accents adorn the metal trap, symbolizing how women are reduced to sexual objects while facing constant violence. These feminine elements on an instrument of harm reveal the dangerous contradictions women navigate daily.
This work challenges viewers to recognize how beauty standards, gender expectations, and social structures function as sophisticated traps, devices designed to control women's bodies and autonomy, disguising oppression as cultural tradition.
